Deck Cleaners Prepare your deck before you stain.

Superdeck Wood Cleaner is a biodegradable cleaner that is safe and effective for cleaning exterior wood surfaces such as decks, fences, outdoor furniture, siding, log homes, hardwoods and composite decking.

The concentrated liquid formula will make up to 4 gallons of cleaning solution that will clean stains caused by dirt, mold or mildew. Used in its concentrated form, it can also remove failed, oxidized transparent and semi-transparent finishes. By cleaning wood and removing surface contaminants, it allows for better penetration of a subsequent wood coating. Wood Cleaner is non-flammable, fast-acting and easy to use. One gallon of dilluted cleaning solution will clean 100 - 200 square feet.

DeckTechs PDC Premium Deck Cleaner is a safe, easy-to-use oxygen bleach that cleans and restores pressure-treated wood to its natural beauty by removing mildew, algae and dirt build-up.

Applicators Use the right tools for the job.

Most cleaners can by poured over the work area or sprayed on with a tank sprayer. If you use a sprayer, make sure it has been thoroughly cleaned. Spread the cleaner evenly over the area and be careful not to let it pool in one spot. Allow the cleaner to sit on the surface as directed and use a stiff broom or scrub brush to loosen the tough dirt. Spray off the area with a hose. See cleaner label for any warnings about danger to other exterior surfaces.

Deck Stains can be applied with sprayers, brushes or rollers. A deck sprayer can get the job finished fast, but overspray can get on other surfaces and plants. Do not use a sprayer on a windy day or near furniture, doors or windows without protecting the surfaces carefully. A roller is the next best option for quickly staining a flat surface. Be careful not to apply stain too heavily when using a roller. A brush is the most accurate way to make sure stain reaches every surface you want to coat, but it takes longer than the other methods. Often brushing is the only way to stain the rails and hard to reach places. Most people will use a combination of applicators to fit the needs of their project.

Always be sure not to leave stain pool up on the wood. If the stain does not penetrate and just dries on the surface, it will remain tacky and will be hard to remove. Even when spraying it may be necessary to follow behind with a brush to even out the application.
