As
Hader Hardware celebrates its 115th year, we look back at some
of the key events in our history...
1889
John Hader opened the first Hader Hardware store in the Cincinnati
neighborhood of Westwood at Harrison Avenue and Higbee.
1914
Henry Hader, John's son, purchased the original Hader store.
1947
James and Milton Hader, Henry's sons, incorporated the business
and begin a period of expansion that sees the chain grow to six
stores by the late 1960s.
1980s
Hader Hardware expands to twelve greater Cincinnati locations.
1993
Rick Suder and Gary Sullivan, long-time Hader employees,
purchase the company from James Hader.
1998
Hader Hardware is sold to a group of Cincinnati Investors.
2001
Hader Hardware begins purchasing from a new distributor - United
Hardware. United Hardware offers Hader better buying power and store
programs and a selection of over 40,000 items through their distribution
center. This new partnership will offer Hader Hardware new ways
to serve its customers.
2002
Hader Hardware operates twelve stores - eleven in Greater
Cincinnati and one in Columbus. The company is locally owned and
operated and continues its mission to provide quality products and
outstanding service through its neighborhood stores.
2004
Hader Hardware streamlines down to nine stores, eight in the Greater
Cincinnati area and one in Columbus, allowing Hader Hardware to continue
doing business more competitively versus the Big Box stores. Our apologizes
if we closed the store closest to you, but please visit one of our other locations.
At Hader Hardware, we are still focused on quick and personal service.
