A
lush, green lawn in the middle of summer may seem like an
impossible dream, but a with a little extra attention, your
summer lawn can be the envy of the neighborhood.
You
Lawn and plants need more than just a passing shower or 15
minutes of sprinkler time. Give your lawn a long, thorough
soaking and then be sure to allow enough time for the roots
to dry before another deep watering. This produces extended,
robust roots because they're forced to grow downward to search
for water. One good watering per week will product better
long term results than watering a little each day. If you
only water for a brief period, the water may evaporate long
before it reaches the roots.
The
best time to water is in the morning, when the air is cool
and moist. The warmth of the sun and the rising temperature
gently dries the grass and the leaves on the trees. And since
morning air is damp, you don't waste water through evaporation.
Avoid watering in the evening or at night. Damp grass and
plants are more vulnerable to mold, fungus and disease.
